Are you the victim of the ‘Whatsapp Hoax’?
I too am getting these Whatsapp hoax messages and honestly speaking, I forwarded a few to my whatsapp friends as well.
This is not the first time that such Whatsapp messages are circulating worldwide, but I never believed them but the ‘Error: Status unavailable’ thing made me believe on this hoax this time.
As a result, I forwarded the messages to 15 of my friends and so foolish of me that I was waiting for my Whatsapp logo to turn red.
I just Googled about the Whatsapp hoax and found that it is actually a hoax. And now when I am sure that it is a hoax all I want to say is that Please do not send these hoax messages to your entire contact list on Whatsapp instant messenger.
There is not even a single percent truth in this message. Whatsapp is not going to charge anything to its users and neither the whatsapp icon is gonna turn red by sending these messages.
I am getting such messages in many different languages from my friends worldwide and this blogpost is just to inform millions of users that this is a complete hoax and there is no truth in it.
I have checked this info from the official blog of Whatsapp instant messenger service and thus it is a confirm news.
There is no such official announcement made by WhatsApp about charging users to send messages. This message is just another incarnation of the long line of ridiculous hoaxes previously.
Whatsapp instant messenger is experiencing some network issues and so it is showing ‘Error: Status Unavailable’ for your entire contact list. Fix is under process and is expected to be fixed soon.
Not just the red icon message but there are some more messages been circulated globally by the whatsapp users. Some of the most common messages which I got from my whatspp friends were-
“This message is to inform all of our users, that our servers have recently been really full, so we are asking for your help to fix this problem. We need our active users to re-send this message to everyone on your contact list in order to confirm our active users that use BlackBerry Messenger, if you do not send this message to all your BlackBerry Messenger contacts then your account will remain inactive with the consequence of losing all your contacts”.
“Whatsapp is shutting down on 28th jan Message from Jim Balsamic (CEO of Whatsapp) we have had an over usage of user names on whatsapp Messenger. “WhatsApp is going to cost us money soon. The only way that it will stay free is if you are a frequent user i.e. you have at least 10 people you are chatting with. To become a frequent user send this message to 10 people who receive it (2 ticks) and your WhatsApp logo should turn Red to indicate a frequent user.”
